Salary figures are basic pay as printed in the advert (the start of the scale, the annual increment and the top of the scale). Allowances are not listed. To see roughly what a basic salary leaves you after statutory deductions, run it through our net salary calculator. For example, a Clinical Officer starting at KSh 55,373 basic pays PAYE, NSSF, SHIF and the housing levy on that amount before any allowances.

How to apply for Karatina University jobs

  1. Read the full job specification in the official PDF advert for your post. Specialisations and exact requirements are only there.
  2. Apply online at jobs.karu.ac.ke (also linked from the Careers section of karu.ac.ke).
  3. Attach a detailed CV, academic and professional certificates, academic transcripts, KCSE/KACE/KCE certificate, CUE recognition for any foreign qualification, and your national ID or passport. Our list of documents needed for jobs in Kenya covers each one.
  4. Also email one continuously scanned copy (a single PDF) of the whole application to jobs@karu.ac.ke. The subject must state the job title and reference, for example “Lecturer (KarU/HR/LEC/2026)”. Many applicants miss this second step.
  5. Submit both before 5:00 p.m. on 16 November 2026.

Applicants with disabilities should attach their NCPWD certificate as evidence. See our NCPWD card guide if you don’t have one yet.

Tips that matter for this round

  • Match the specialisation exactly. Lecturer posts are advertised per discipline (for example “ECT Physics Methods” or “Data Science”). A general application for “Lecturer” without a named specialisation is easy to reject.
  • Count your experience the way the advert does. Several technical posts ask for 11 years. Count only relevant post-qualification experience and list dates by month.
  • Professional registration is a hard requirement for many posts (NCK for the nurse, KHPOA licence for the morticians, ICPAK for accountants). Upload current certificates, not expired ones.
  • Prepare Chapter Six clearances early in case you are shortlisted. Business Radar’s guide to documents needed for job applications in Kenya lists the usual clearances and how long they take.
  • Write a short, targeted cover letter with the cover letter generator, and use the CV checker before uploading.
