This page tracks recruitment by the bodies Kenyans ask about most: the Kenya Defence Forces, the National Police Service, the Teachers Service Commission, KMTC, the National Youth Service and the 47 county governments. Each row on the board shows whether a round is open right now and how long is left before it closes. Every status line links to the official source we checked, with the date we last checked it.
Countdowns run to the official closing time in East Africa Time. Tap a row for details and sources.
Kenya Defence Forces
On 19 October 2026 KDF said no recruitment is ongoing and called the "2026/2027 recruitment" notices on social media fake. The last official exercise ran across all counties in October 2025 after an advert in September 2025.
Requirements. Requirements differ for General Duty Recruits, Defence Forces Constables, cadets and specialist officers, and are set out in each advert. The Ministry of Defence says nobody needs to pay to get a slot.

How This Tracker Works
Open rounds come straight from our government jobs hub. When we add a verified advert there, it appears on this board with a live countdown to the official closing time in East Africa Time. When the deadline passes, the round drops off the board on its own, so you never see an expired advert listed as open.
For KDF and the police, mass recruitment happens once in a while rather than all year. When nothing is open, we say so plainly and show when the last official exercise happened. We do not publish “expected dates” or rumoured windows. A date only goes on this page after it appears on an official website, in a Kenya Gazette notice or in a statement from the recruiting body’s verified accounts.
Fake Recruitment Notices Are Common
Fake notices spread fastest when people are waiting for a big exercise. On 19 October 2026, KDF warned that “2026/2027 recruitment” notices circulating online were fake and that no recruitment was going on. Those notices copied the look of the Kenya Gazette and asked people to upload their ID and certificates to an unofficial portal. In January 2026, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations reported arrests over forged TSC appointment letters that cost job seekers more than Sh40 million.
A few rules keep you safe:
- Recruitment into public service is free. KDF, the police, TSC and county boards do not ask for “processing”, “medical” or “uniform” fees to secure a slot. Anyone asking for money is committing a crime.
- Check the website address. Official sites end in .go.ke, .mil.ke or .ac.ke. Application portals sent through WhatsApp or Telegram links, or on free website builders, are red flags.
- Nobody can “connect” you. People who claim to know someone inside the recruitment panel are running a scam.
- Report it. Call DCI’s toll-free #FichuaKwaDCI line on 0800 722 203 or send an anonymous WhatsApp message to 0709 570 000.
How to Prepare Before a Round Opens
Rounds often give only two to three weeks between the advert and the closing date, and some police and KDF exercises take place on a single day at local centres. Getting your papers ready now saves you a rush later.
- Keep your national ID, birth certificate, KCSE certificate and result slip, and any college certificates in one folder, with clear copies.
- For county and commission jobs, you will usually need clearance from HELB, EACC, DCI (certificate of good conduct), KRA and a credit reference bureau if you are shortlisted. Some of these take days to process.
- For KDF and police exercises, you must meet the age, height and grade limits on the day of recruitment, not when you apply. Read the requirements line in the advert carefully.
- Open an email address you check daily, and keep your phone number active. Shortlist and interview notices often arrive with short notice.
Get Alerts Instead of Checking Every Day
Use the form on the board above to join our free job alerts. You get an email when new jobs are posted, daily or on Mondays and Thursdays, and every email has a one-click unsubscribe link. We never charge job seekers, and we never ask you to pay for a job.
If you see a recruitment notice that is not on this board, check the official website for that body first. If you cannot find it there, treat it as fake until proven otherwise.
