Your list is saved only in this browser on this phone. JobInKenya never sees it, and there is no account to create.
When you are applying for ten or twenty jobs a month, it gets hard to remember which county board you sent documents to, when the KPA shortlist is due, or whether that interview call was for the NGO or the bank. This tracker works like a matatu route board: every job starts at “Applied” and moves along the stops to Shortlisted, Interview and Offer. You can add any job by hand, or tap “Save to my applied tracker” on a JobInKenya advert to add it with its link.
How to use it well
- Add the job the day you apply, with the closing date. Government shortlists often appear 3 to 6 weeks after closing, so the date tells you when to check.
- Move it along the route when you hear back. Use “Not successful” instead of deleting, so you can see your real success rate.
- Download your list as a CSV file once a month. Clearing your browser or changing phones deletes the list, so the CSV is your backup.
Why we built it this way
Job seekers in Kenya are often asked by fake recruiters to “register” and share their ID, CV and phone number. A tracker that stores your data on a server would just be another place your details could leak. Keeping it on your phone means no sign-up, nothing to hack, and it works even if your bundles run out after the page has loaded.
Worked example
Brenda adds six jobs in October. By late November the board shows two Shortlisted, one Interview and three Not successful. She sees that both shortlistings came from adverts where she wrote a tailored cover letter, and changes her approach for the rest.
