Tax and Accounting Officer
Key ResponsibilitiesTax Compliance and Advisory
- Prepare and file statutory returns including VAT, PAYE, withholding tax, corporate tax, and other applicable taxes.
- Advise clients on tax compliance obligations and emerging tax regulations.
- Support tax planning and compliance reviews across different sectors.
- Liaise with tax authorities on behalf of clients where necessary.
- Support clients during tax audits, reviews, and regulatory assessments.
Advisory and Capacity Building
- Provide accounting and financial management guidance to client teams.
- Support organizations in strengthening financial policies and compliance systems.
- Identify operational and financial risks and recommend mitigation measures.
- Assist clients in audit preparation and responding to audit findings.
- Support financial due diligence and compliance assessments where required.
Client Accounting Support
- Manage and maintain accurate accounting records for multiple client organizations.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
- Support clients with budgeting, cash flow management, and financial planning.
- Conduct bank, ledger, and account reconciliations.
- Review and improve accounting systems, processes, and internal controls.
- Provide bookkeeping oversight and financial management support.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related field.
- CPA(K), ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification required.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting, tax, or financial advisory roles.
- Demonstrated experience supporting organizations across different sectors such as NGOs, SMEs, private sector companies, donor-funded projects, or consulting environments.
- Strong understanding of tax regulations, financial reporting standards, and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
