The Senior Principal Lecturer I, KEWI 3 reports to the Senior Deputy Director, Academic Affairs KEWI 2.

Duties and responsibilities at this level entail:

  • Coordinating the review of teaching/learning materials and schemes of work;
  • Coordinating lecturing in the area of specialization in accordance with the syllabus;
  • Facilitating supervision of trainees’ projects and practical work;
  • Conducting research and publishing papers, proposals, journal articles and books;
  • Implementing guidelines for students with special needs;
  • Preparing students progress reports;
  • Conducting student academic mentorship programmes;
  • Developing and maintaining class registers;
  • Contributing to professional conferences and seminars; and
  • May be assigned to perform the role of subject coordinator.

Job Specifications

For appointment to the grade, an officer must have: –

  • Served for a cumulative period of twelve (12) years relevant work experience three position; (3) of which must have been in the grade of Principal Lecturer or in a comparable;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Water/Civil/Irrigation Engineering or its equivalent qualification from a recognized University;
  • Master’s degree in a relevant lecturing field in any of the following disciplines: Water/Civil/Irrigation Engineering or its equivalent qualification from a recognized University;
  • Certificate in Training of Trainers (TOT) course lasting not less than six (6) months from a recognized Institution;
  • Membership to a relevant professional body and in good standing where applicable;
  • Leadership course certificate lasting not less than four (4) Weeks from a recognized Institution;
  • A valid practicing certificate where applicable;
  • Proficiency in computer applications; and
  • Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

In addition to the above indicated requirements, applicants will be required to meet the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity.

  • Certificate of Good Conduct;
  • Clearance from the Ethics and Anti – Corruption Commission;
  • Certificate of Compliance from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB);
  • Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) Tax Compliance Clearance; and
  • Certificate of Clearance from the Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
