Job Purpose
To provide specialized medical care in haemato-oncology, focusing on the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with blood cancers and disorders, while contributing to training and research in the Hospital.

Duties and responsibilities
Reporting to the Head of Department, Oncology, the position holder will be responsible for the following:
- Providing expert diagnosis and management of patients with hematologic malignancies and related disorders, including leukemias, lymphomas, and myelomas.
- Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans.
- Prescribing and monitoring systemic anti-cancer therapies, ensuring safe administration and managing treatment-related toxicities.
- Coordinating blood transfusions, stem cell transplantation, and other hematology-specific interventions as clinically indicated.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including radiation oncologists, pathologists, and palliative care specialists, to optimize patient outcomes.
- Participating in tumor boards and multidisciplinary case discussions to guide evidence-based treatment decisions.
- Communicating to patients and families regarding disease, treatment options, and prognosis.
- Engaging in clinical research, continuous medical education, and quality improvement initiatives to advance haemato-oncology practice.
- Mentoring junior doctors, interns, and medical students in hematology and oncology principles and procedures.
- Any other duty as may be assigned.
Key Qualifications and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from an institution recognized by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
- Master of Medicine degree in Oncology or equivalent from an institution recognized by KMPDC.
- Sub-specialization in Haemato-Oncology from an institution recognized by KMPDC.
- Registration and retention in the KMPDC register.
- Recognition as a sub-specialist by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
- Valid specialist practice license from KMPDC.
- Professional Indemnity Cover.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
- Compliance with Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya.
