Position Overview
- The Safari Planner will be responsible for creating, coordinating, and managing bespoke safari itineraries for both international and resident clients. This role demands strong destination knowledge, attention to detail, and a deep passion for delivering world-class experiences that reflect the Ongeri Expeditions brand.Key Responsibilities
- Design and cost tailor-made safari itineraries across East and Southern Africa.
- Handle all client communications from inquiry to confirmation, ensuring timely and professional responses.
- Coordinate with lodges, camps, DMCs, airlines, and other partners to ensure accurate availability, rates, and smooth operations.
- Prepare professional travel proposals, quotations, booking vouchers, and client documents.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of destinations, properties, activities, and current promotions.
- Manage bookings through the company’s CRM and internal tracking systems.
- Ensure all itineraries meet brand standards in design, quality, and guest experience.
- Support marketing and sales teams with itinerary content and insights when needed.
- Provide exceptional after-sales service and handle any trip amendments or issues efficiently.
Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in tour operations, travel planning, or reservations within the safari or hospitality sector.
- Strong knowledge of East African destinations — particularly Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and Rwanda.
- Excellent written and spoken English; other languages are an added advantage.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, and at least one travel booking or costing system.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask under pressure.
- A passion for travel, wildlife, and conservation.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a client-first mindset.
