As our Restaurant Manager, you’ll be the heartbeat of Peponi’s — leading our team, fine-tuning operations, and ensuring every guest leaves happier than they arrived. You’ll work closely with our pizzaiolo and bar team to keep quality and service at their best, building a space that feels both professional and fun.
What We’re Looking For
Operational Excellence
- Oversee daily service to ensure smooth coordination between floor, kitchen, and bar. Keep energy high, communication clear, and every shift running with purpose.
- Lead service from the front — setting the tone for calm, confident hospitality. Be present on the floor, guiding the team and keeping the guest experience seamless from arrival to farewell.
- Maintain consistency in food, drink, and service by working closely with the pizzaiolo and bar team. Anticipate needs before they become issues and keep service flowing effortlessly.
- Manage pacing, seating, and table turns so guests always feel attended to, never rushed. Keep an eye on the small details that make service feel effortless.
- Handle inventory and supplier relationships with care, ensuring quality, freshness, and minimal waste.
- Monitor quality every shift — taste, observe, and coach in real time. Address challenges with grace and turn feedback into improvement.
- Refine systems and routines to make service better, simpler, and more consistent every day.
Team Leadership & Culture Building
- Build and inspire a passionate team that reflects Peponi’s warm, welcoming culture.
- Create a positive, supportive work environment that balances the pace of a busy restaurant with care for staff wellbeing.
- Develop hands-on training programs that blend authentic Italian pizza traditions with Kenyan hospitality excellence.
- Encourage creativity across the team — from inventive pizza specials to new cocktail ideas — and celebrate initiative.
Guest Experience & Community Building
- Ensure every guest enjoys the perfect mix of casual comfort and attentive service.
- Be a visible, approachable presence on the floor, setting the tone for genuine, personal hospitality.
- Engage with the Westlands and wider Nairobi community to build strong, lasting relationships.
- Handle guest feedback thoughtfully, turning challenges into opportunities to surprise and delight.
- Collaborate with the bar team and ownership to host events and promotions that make Peponi’s a true community hub.
Business Performance
- Monitor and optimize food and beverage costs while maintaining a commitment to quality ingredients.
- Drive revenue through creative promotions and experiences that resonate with Nairobi’s dining scene.
- Use data and performance insights to guide continuous improvement in service, sales, and operations.
- Work with ownership to develop growth strategies that strengthen Peponi’s authentic, community-focused identity.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of restaurant management experience, ideally in casual dining or pizzerias
- Proven success building and motivating teams in fast-paced environments
- Strong understanding of food costing, inventory management, and P&L performance
- Experience with modern POS systems and restaurant management software
- Knowledge of Kenyan food safety regulations and labor laws

- A genuine passion for hospitality and creating memorable dining experiences
- Natural warmth and charisma that make both guests and staff feel at home
- Excellent communication skills in English
- Energy and stamina to thrive in a lively, high-volume setting
- Calm, solution-oriented mindset under pressure
Nice to Have
- Diploma or degree in Hospitality Management, Business, or related field (though we value experience over titles)
- Experience with Italian cuisine or international restaurant concepts
- Knowledge of wine, spirits, and cocktail programs

- Social media savvy with ideas for building our online presence
