About the Role
Research Officers in the #THINK unit provide thematic expertise, conduct evidence-based research, and contribute to the drafting of knowledge products within their assigned portfolio. They work under the guidance of Research Leads, collaborating with other officers and contributors across the unit. You will report to the Director of Research & Innovation, and work directly with the Research Leads. This is a volunteer position, with expectation of 5-7 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the design and delivery of research projects within the assigned portfolio
- Support your portfolio’s research projects, reports, briefs, written submissions, and thought pieces related to children and young migrants around your specific thematic area
- Assist in gathering, collating and synthesizing data and research around your portfolio as set by the Research Leads
- Ensure all outputs are evidence-based, youth-centred and policy-relevant, and collaborate with other research leads for cross-cutting issues
- Collaborate with other Research Officers and units for cross-cutting initiatives and input
- Provide relevant and timely input into MYCP’s advocacy, communication and engagement
Person Specification
- Aged between 18 and 30 years old
- Strong interest or experience in a relevant thematic area and academic research (i.e., health/medicine for the Health Research Lead)
- An in-depth understanding of youth and migration issues, preferably from lived-experience
- Good research, writing, analysis and communication skills and excellent command of English (fluency in one or more other UN languages is desirable)
- Collaborative mindset and commitment to youth empowerment and MYCP’s values
