About the Role
Research Leads in the #THINK unit guide thematic research agendas, lead research and policy creation around specific themes, and ensure outputs are rigorous, accessible, evidence-based and policy-relevant. Each Research Lead will specialize in one thematic area, while contributing to cross-cutting initiatives across the unit. You will report to the Director of Research & Innovation. This is a volunteer position, with expectation of 5-7 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead MYCP’s research & innovation agenda within your thematic area
- Design and oversee research projects, reports, briefs, written submissions, and thought pieces related to children and young migrants around your specific thematic area
- Representing MYCP’s research on your thematic area to external partners
- Ensure all outputs are evidence-based, youth-centred and policy-relevant, and collaborate with other research leads for cross-cutting issues
- Liaise with external partners, academics, young people and civil society for input and peer-review
- Work directly with the relevant advocacy focal point in the #DELIVER unit to support the link between research and programming, and support the #ENGAGE unit with capacity buildings around your research theme
- Support and oversee research officers to support your work
Person Specification
- Aged between 18 and 30 years old
- Strong experience in academic research in a relevant field (i.e., health/medicine for the Health Research Lead) (a postgraduate qualification, or equivalent experience is desirable)
- An in-depth understanding of youth and migration issues, preferably from lived-experience
- Excellent research, writing, analysis and communication skills and command of English (fluency in one or more other UN languages is desirable)
- Collaborative mindset and commitment to youth empowerment and MYCP’s values
- Organised, reliable, team-player and proactive collaborator
