The Project
The Disability Data Initiative (DDI) Sub-Saharan Africa and the Department of Public and Global Health, University of Nairobi, invite applications for an 11-month research fellowship aimed at advancing the quality and use of disability data to promote inclusive and sustainable development.
The DDI, in collaboration with the Global DDI Group and the South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC), seeks exceptional researchers committed to evidence-based approaches that improve the lives of persons with disabilities.
The Position
We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a Master’s degree and relevant experience in disability research and statistics to join our team as a Fellow. The successful candidate will contribute to an ongoing research project, develop innovative methodologies, and support data-driven initiatives aimed at addressing disability-related challenges.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct high-quality research in disability data, including analysis and interpretation of complex datasets.
- Collaborate with other researchers and stakeholders to advance the DDI’s objectives.
- Publish findings in reputable journals and present research at conferences.
- Assist in developing new research proposals and securing funding for future projects.
- Contribute to developing tools and resources for disability data collection and analysis.
Job Specification
- Master’s degree in a relevant field in any of the following areas: Disability Studies, Statistics, Epidemiology, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in disability research, working with disability statistics or translating evidence into disability inclusion and advocacy.
- Strong analytical skills and willingness to develop proficiency in statistical software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and another African language.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
