Position Overview
To support the implementation and continuous improvement of our Quality, Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental management systems. The ideal candidate will play a key role in promoting a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, and upholding our commitment to operational excellence and environmental stewardship
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct safety inductions and toolbox talks for drivers, subcontractors, and workshop staff.
- Manage and participate in internal QHSSE audits in compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.
- Coordinate and conduct emergency response drills, including oil spill simulations.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and EMCA legal and statutory requirements.
- Audit third-party transporters to verify compliance with company QHSSE standards.
- Manage incident and accident reporting, investigation, and ensure follow-up on corrective actions.
- Prepare monthly and annual QHSSE KPI and Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emission reports.
- Coordinate and facilitate mandatory and specialized training (e.g., Defensive Driving, Statutory courses).
- Monitor and schedule statutory inspections of equipment and lifting appliances.
- Inspect road patrols, route surveys and escort critical cargo when required.
- Perform daily truck inspections per client and company requirements.
- Oversee waste management activities, including documentation and coordination with approved waste handlers.
- Carry out daily yard inspections to ensure safe and orderly operations.
- Manage the Permit to Work (PTW) system in line with site safety procedures.
- Inspect loose cargo loading operations to ensure safe handling and proper securing
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent certification will be added advantage.
- At least 2 – 3 years of experience in a QHSSE role within the transport, logistics, or industrial sector.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 standards and auditing principles.
- Strong understanding of Kenyan OSHA, EMCA, and other relevant regulatory frameworks.
