Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Project Manager, the intern will:
- Provide day-to-day programme and project management support for activities under JOSP, including planning, coordination, and follow-up with partners.
- Assist in the preparation, review, and monitoring of project workplans
- Support communications and outreach activities by drafting press releases, newsletters, web stories, and social media content highlighting project milestones.
- Assist in the preparation of reports, briefing notes, talking points, and presentations for senior management and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to the organization of meetings, workshops, and field visits, including logistical arrangements and documentation of proceedings.
- Assist with data collection and analysis to support monitoring and evaluation of project progress, including outcome tracking against indicators.
- Engage with Somali and international partners on project activities, ensuring alignment with UNEP’s broader Climate, Peace, and Security agenda.
Qualifications/special skills
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a graduate program in International Development, Environmental Studies, Public Administration, Project Management, or related field. Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work. experience.
- However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.
- Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme.
