Company Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Grant Writer to help us secure funding from international donors, NGOs, government agencies, and philanthropic foundations.
Position Summary:
The Grant Writer will be responsible for identifying funding opportunities, developing high-quality grant proposals, and maintaining strong relationships with donors and funding partners. The ideal candidate has a proven track record in successful grant applications and a deep understanding of development, humanitarian, and community-based projects within the Kenyan or East African context.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research and identify potential funding sources (local and international).
- Write clear, compelling, and persuasive grant proposals, letters of intent, and concept notes.
- Develop detailed project budgets, timelines, and measurable outcomes aligned with donor requirements.
- Collaborate with project teams to gather relevant data, impact stories, and project details.
- Ensure all submissions comply with donor guidelines and deadlines.
- Track submitted proposals and maintain organized grant records and databases.
- Assist in reporting progress and impact to funders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Development Studies, Project Management, English, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in grant writing and fundraising for NGOs, startups, or development projects.
- Demonstrated success in securing grants from foundations, corporations, or government sources.
- Excellent research, writing, and editing skills with attention to detail.
- Strong understanding of donor funding mechanisms (USAID, UN agencies, EU, DFID, etc.).
- Ability to work independently, meet tight deadlines, and handle multiple proposals simultaneously.
- Familiarity with budgeting, logical frameworks (logframes), and proposal formats.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in the mental health, education, or community development sector.
- Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation frameworks.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Familiarity with CRM or project management tools.
