Our focus areas include mental health, education, community empowerment, and sustainable development. We are seeking an experienced Grant Writer to help us secure funding from international donors, NGOs, government agencies, and philanthropic foundations.

Position Summary:

The Grant Writer will be responsible for identifying funding opportunities, developing high-quality grant proposals, and maintaining strong relationships with donors and funding partners. The ideal candidate has a proven track record in successful grant applications and a deep understanding of development, humanitarian, and community-based projects within the Kenyan or East African context.

  • Research and identify potential funding sources (local and international).
  • Write clear, compelling, and persuasive grant proposals, letters of intent, and concept notes.
  • Develop detailed project budgets, timelines, and measurable outcomes aligned with donor requirements.
  • Collaborate with project teams to gather relevant data, impact stories, and project details.
  • Ensure all submissions comply with donor guidelines and deadlines.
  • Track submitted proposals and maintain organized grant records and databases.
  • Assist in reporting progress and impact to funders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Development Studies, Project Management, English, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in grant writing and fundraising for NGOs, startups, or development projects.
  • Demonstrated success in securing grants from foundations, corporations, or government sources.
  • Excellent research, writing, and editing skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong understanding of donor funding mechanisms (USAID, UN agencies, EU, DFID, etc.).
  • Ability to work independently, meet tight deadlines, and handle multiple proposals simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with budgeting, logical frameworks (logframes), and proposal formats.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in the mental health, education, or community development sector.
  • Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation frameworks.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with CRM or project management tools.
