Job Description

Communications Jobs. Malaica Jobs

Malaica is a digital health startup transforming maternal care in Kenya. We offer personalized, tech-enabled pregnancy support from the beginning of pregnancy until the baby is six months old. Our goal is to ensure that every woman has a safe and joyful pregnancy.

The PR & Events Manager will be responsible for shaping Malaica’s public image, building media and stakeholder relationships, and delivering aspirational, engaging events that connect directly with expectant mums, partners, and the wider community.

This role requires a storyteller’s touch, a networker’s charm, and an operator’s precision: you will secure impactful media coverage, design and execute memorable activations, and ensure every external touchpoint reflects Malaica’s premium brand positioning.

  • Develop and implement a PR strategy to build Malaica’s reputation as the most trusted maternity partner in Nairobi.
  • Write and distribute press releases, op-eds, and media statements.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with journalists, bloggers, influencers, and industry thought leaders.
  • Secure media placements in health, lifestyle, and business outlets.
  • Prepare key spokespeople for interviews and speaking engagements.
  • Plan and execute experiential events (e.g., pregnancy fairs, Lamaze classes, community activations, intimate mum gatherings).
  • Create memorable brand activations at trade shows, baby expos, and community events.
  • Manage event budgets, logistics, vendor relationships, and on-site execution.
  • Deliver post-event evaluations with ROI, lead generation, and brand impact.
  • Maintain consistency in Malaica’s brand voice across all public touchpoints.
  • Produce monthly reports with actionable insights.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in PR, Communications, Marketing, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of proven experience in PR, corporate communications, or events management.
  • Strong media network in Nairobi (health, lifestyle, and business journalists).
  • Demonstrated success in planning and executing premium events.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Experience in healthcare, wellness, or lifestyle industries is a plus.
