Job Description
Our client is a reputable hospitality establishment in Nairobi, renowned for excellence in fine dining and creative dessert offerings. The team is expanding and seeks a passionate and skilled Pastry Chef to join their kitchen and bring artistic flair to the dessert experience.
Job Summary
The Pastry Chef will be responsible for developing, preparing, and presenting a wide range of pastries, cakes, and desserts while ensuring the highest standards of quality, creativity, and presentation. The ideal candidate is innovative, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced culinary environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and prepare daily pastry and dessert items according to menu and seasonal demand.
- Design and test new recipes and menu items aligned with customer preferences and trends.
- Supervise and train pastry staff, ensuring adherence to hygiene and safety standards.
- Maintain stock levels, manage ordering of ingredients, and minimize waste.
- Ensure consistent quality, taste, and presentation across all pastry items.
- Work collaboratively with the Head Chef and service team to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma or Certificate in Pastry and Bakery, Culinary Arts, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Pastry Chef or Baker in a reputable hotel, restaurant, or bakery.
- Proficiency in cake decoration, chocolate work, and dessert plating.
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
- Creative mindset with a passion for innovation and presentation.
