Our client, a prominent distributor of Motorcycles in Kenya with a strong presence in the market, is seeking to hire a Logistics Officer. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and coordinating logistics operations, ensuring the efficient movement of goods from suppliers to warehouses and from warehouses to dealers and customers. This role involves planning, monitoring, and optimizing transportation and inventory processes while keeping cost efficiency and resource utilization in mind
Key Responsibilities
- In charge of Local import clearance of CKD parts.
- “Ensure correct shipping documents are provided to the CA within required timeliness (10 days prior to shipment arrival) e.g. PI & PL, IDF, COC, COO, BL/AWB, Commercial Invoice, (CB13 & C60 where applicable)
- In charge Fresh CKD bonds application on (Kentrade/Citi direct/KRA) 10 days before Bond utilization
- Preparation CKD ordering sheet.
- Regular follow ups on the cargo clearance progress and clear communication to the clearing agent on what is expected of them keeping the agreed SLA timelines in mind.
- Timely trouble shooting of any issues that arise with our C/A, external and internal stakeholders
- Supervision of offloading and loading activities at HMK BWH.
- In charge of external bonded facility activities and facilitation of transfer of CKD from the external facility to HMK BWH.
- “Monitoring of shipping schedule from SDH, MSA and ICD based on Niguri and the sailing schedule and updating on the Daily import Management report
- Preparation of accurate Daily Imports Report Management and sending it to stakeholder’s everyday by 3pm.
- Proper filing of the logistics documents
- Collection of industry intelligence on legislation issued by bodies such as KEBS, KRA and National Treasury, KPA.
- In charge of BWH operations both Warehousing and ex-warehouse till the entry passing, and BWH reconciliation.
- Link between HMK C/A and HMK bonded warehouse office.
- Issuing of CKDs from BWH to Material service section.
- Preparation of Logistics supplier evaluation templates.
- Supplier evaluation on a yearly basis and coming up with an improvement plan.
- Logistics supplier sourcing and contract drafting of supplier SLAs.
- Gathering of Market intelligence of changes in the regulation be it TREO or treasury and quickly effecting the changes to avoid any clearance disruptions.
- Performing any other duties that may be allocated by immediate supervisor.
Performance Standards:
- Timely clearance of allocated imports in line with the C/A SLAs.
- Timely submission of the management reports highlighted above
- Relationship management with our Internal and external stakeholders
- Timely delivery of our CKDs to the assembly line, that are ready for production and registration.
- Zero or unavoidable demurrage and storage costs
- Yearly submission of supplier evaluation forms
- Reduction in Logistical costs for the CKDs.
Qualifications & Experience
- A minimum of Diploma in Clearing and Forwarding/ Logistics Management
- Minimum of 4 years work experience in clearing and forwarding.
- Strong understanding of clearing and forwarding regulations
- Great analytical skills
- Good communication skills and positive attitude
- Reliable, honest and be a person of good Integrity
- Key relationship management skills.
- Able to set and maintain high standards
- Age; 27 years of age and above
