Job Specification
Duties and responsibilities of the officer will entail;
- Identifying the chemical and consumables required for an experiment;
- Collecting and preparing samples and specimens, managing and safely disposing samples and specimens;
- Maintaining the inventory of laboratory equipment;
- Carrying out experimental work;
- Undertaking analytical work;
- Maintaining and preserving specimens and cultures;
- Recording of experimental data;
- Setting and maintaining laboratory equipment;
- Maintaining laboratory records; and
- Carrying out demonstrations of laboratory functions to clients/visitors.
Person Specification
- For appointment to this grade a candidate must have: –
- Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines; Applied Biology, Food technology, Analytical Chemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or equivalent from a recognized institution;
- Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a minimum grade of C plus (C+) or equivalent;
- Proficiency in computer applications;
