Role Overview
We are seeking a journalist based in Nairobi to cover energy, climate, sustainability, and innovation topics across East Africa. The selected candidate will produce news articles, interviews, analytical features, and multimedia content, collaborating closely with our editors in Europe as we develop this new regional initiative.

Responsibilities
- Produce timely and accurate news, features, and analyses on energy, climate, and sustainability across East Africa.
- Conduct interviews with government officials, industry leaders, researchers, innovators, and community representatives.
- Monitor local media, official reports, policy developments, and corporate updates.
- Ensure all content meets Rinnovabili’s editorial standards for accuracy, verification, and clarity.
- Participate in planning calls with the international team and contribute ideas for regional coverage.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a journalist or reporter.
- Excellent writing skills in English.
- Solid understanding of the renewable-energy market and sustainability landscape in East Africa.
- Strong verification skills, autonomy, and the ability to meet deadlines.
- A reliable network across public institutions, private sector, or research communities.
Preferred Qualifications
- SEO experience (keyword research, metadata, search-optimized headlines).
- Experience in the renewable-energy sector from a journalistic, policy, or market angle.
- Strong accountability and ownership of the full content-production pipeline.
- Experience presenting or moderating panels, interviews, webinars, or live events.
- Podcast hosting or production experience.
- Experience with international media organizations.
- Ability to produce photos or short videos when needed.
