About the Role
As the MYCP International Representative, you will be based in one of the three cities (New York, Nairobi or Geneva), and represent MYCP at the UN and other intergovernmental organisations, liaise and build relationships with Permanent Missions, agencies, and stakeholders on behalf of MYCP and coordinate on the ground activities. You will report to the MYCP Coordinator & International Council. This is a volunteer Director-level position, with expectation of 8-12 hours per week.
There are three positions available. 1 post in each of New York City, Nairobi & Geneva.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent MYCP to intergovernmental organisations, Permanent Missions, international agencies, and other stakeholders, speaking on behalf of MYCP at events and conferences, implementing advocacy strategies, creating and supporting side events, and leading MYCP’s on the ground diplomatic work
- Build relationships with key governments, UN agencies, NGOs and youth networks to advance MYCP policy and priorities in international spaces
- Working closely with the Director of Advocacy & Campaigns, and the wider unit, to be the chief spokesperson and representative of MYCP on the ground
Person Specification
- Aged between 18 and 30 years old
- Proven experience in public speaking, building relationships and international policy processes and diplomatic spaces
- Proven ability to deliver impactful events and spaces around advocacy priorities
- Understanding of migration and migration policy issues, preferably with lived experience
- Excellent writing, analysis and communication skills and command of English (fluency in one or more other UN languages is desirable)
- Collaborative mindset and commitment to youth empowerment and MYCP’s values
- Organised, reliable, and proactive problem-solver
