Godfrey is a leadership trainer at Corporate Staffing committed to training and equipping professionals with the skills they need to lead with confidence and efficiency. His journey in leadership has been shaped by her drive and commitment to empowering individuals, fostering growth, and creating a safe environment where people thrive.
As a leadership trainer, Godfrey’s influence extends far beyond the classroom. He ensures every participant walks away not just with knowledge, but with transformative skills, powerful mindsets, and the courage to drive meaningful change within their organizations. His approach is hands-on, heart-centred, and results-driven
Curious about behind the scenes of training and development? I sought to understand the experiences that have shaped her leadership approach.
“I took on leadership responsibilities at a young age, beginning in primary school, when I discovered the value of mentoring and motivating others. I have made it a point in my work to communicate clearly and purposefully, making sure that my thoughts have an impact and are in line with corporate objectives,” he says.
To become the trainer he is today, Mary herself took some classes “I signed up for a supervisory course and later a leadership course, which is much broader and detailed.” He is a strong believer in growth by upskilling and continuous learning to advance in your career.
The journey, however, has not been without challenges. Making tough decisions, facing opposition, and handling difficult conversations are all part of the role.
“Leaders face challenges such as work performance, presenting ideas, and micromanagement from supervisors. It is my duty to guide them through these gaps and help them translate their vision into actionable results,” he continues. Despite this, he remains committed to finding common ground and driving positive change.
Over the years, he has learned invaluable lessons of leadership, and from her perspective, success lies in:
Emotional Intelligence – In addition to managing tasks, great leaders have a human understanding. Effective leadership is built on emotional intelligence (EQ), which enables leaders to understand and affect others’ emotions while also identifying and being able to control their own.
Ability to Unlearn, Learn, and Relearn – By learning, unlearning, and relearning, great leaders embrace ongoing growth. In a world that is changing quickly, information and tactics that were useful yesterday might not be so tomorrow.
Managing Upwards – Leading teams is only one aspect of effective leadership; upward management is another. Managing up involves establishing trusting bonds with senior executives, learning about their priorities, and coordinating your efforts to further company objectives. It calls for strategic thought, flexibility, and proactive communication.
Being a leader is a lifelong process. It can be unsettling at times, and nobody can prepare you for what is coming. Invest in learning and keep on evolving as a leader; learning new things constantly is essential to your development. Learn, unlearn and relearn. You are a mentor as well as a leader, so pay attention to both people’s needs and company goals, he concludes
Are you interested in increasing your influence and refining your leadership skills? Our Leadership Short Course will give you the knowledge and skills you need to thrive in today’s fast-paced world. Invest in your career progress and advance in your leadership career right now!
