About the Role
Royal Mabati Factory Limited is seeking a keen and innovative Development & Innovation Officer to drive automation initiatives and streamline processes within the IT department. The successful candidate will focus on developing custom solutions, automating workflows, and implementing innovative technologies to enhance manufacturing efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify opportunities for automation in manufacturing processes, including production lines, supply chain, and quality assurance.
- Design, develop, and implement software tools and scripts for process improvement.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to analyze current processes and recommend innovative solutions.
- Lead projects on emerging technologies such as AI, IoT, or robotics integration.
- Test and deploy custom applications or integrations to optimize workflows.
- Monitor the impact of innovations and refine them based on performance data.
- Conduct workshops to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Stay updated on industry trends in automation.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 4–6 years of experience in IT development and innovation, ideally in manufacturing automation.
- Expertise in programming languages (e.g., Python, Java) and automation tools (e.g., RPA software).
- Strong background in process improvement methodologies like Lean, Six Sigma, or Agile.
- Experience with manufacturing automation systems, including PLC programming or SCADA.
- Certifications in project management (PMP) or innovation (e.g., Certified Innovation Professional).
- Creative problem-solving skills with a focus on practical solutions.
- Excellent leadership and communication abilities.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Automation Implementation Rate: Deploy automation solutions in manufacturing processes with 100% on-time delivery of 4+ automation projects per quarter.
- Efficiency Improvement ROI: Achieve a 25% overall efficiency increase per implemented project.
- Paperless Innovation Adoption: Ensure 100% automation of paper-based workflows and 100% team adoption.
- Innovation Project Success: Maintain a 100% project completion rate with all milestones met.
- Workflow Bottleneck Reduction: Resolve 100% of identified bottlenecks within 30 days.
- Emerging Tech Integration: Successfully pilot 2+ new technologies per quarter with 100% integration.
- Continuous Improvement Impact: Achieve 100% participation in workshops and a 15% annual improvement in productivity metrics.
