Salary Budget: 300K + Benefits.

Duration: 1 Year Renewable Contract

Baraka HealthNet are searching for a CEO to provide leadership direction and to ensure the strategic, programmatic and technical integrity of Baraka Healthnet programs. This includes guiding the strategic planning, design and implementation of programs and achievement of planned results. As the principal resource mobilizer and Baraka Health Net ambasadour, the CEO will be responsible for raising awareness about the organization’s work at various forums and building an increasingly, diversified network of partners, who believe in the work of the organization and provide funds, technical support and other forms of collaboration to meet the current and future needs.

We are seeking an individual with excellent leadership and technical skills, who is a team player, dedicated, hardworking, innovative, highly motivated and able to work in an environment requiring multi-tasking abilities.

Responsibilities

Organizational Leadership

  • Provide professional leadership and management for clinics and projects across all locations.
  • Report to the board of Baraka Healthnet on a regular basis (quarterly) about any relevant developments
  • Chair the management team and promote a participatory style of leadership
  • Make sure that the intended outcome or objectives according to the strategic plans are achieved efficiently and effectively with the resources available.
  • Provide oversight of program activities, ensuring that the programs are technically sound, follow organizational standards and remain well-informed about programme activities, information and statistics.
  • Mentor, support, supervise and manage a team of highly qualified staff and is responsible for the HR relation and administration.
  • Stay informed about health sector developments, legal changes, and events relevant to business opportunities and organizational practices.
  • Participate in policy discussions and organizational activities in your role as a member of the management team.

Operations/Compliance

  • Safeguard risk management, staff welfare, and organizational compliance with laws and regulations.

Resource Mobilization

  • Establish and maintain networks with partner organizations and represent Baraka Health Net in external relations.
  • Developing, implementing and monitoring fundraising strategies that include yearly targets to meet the costs of the current and future programmes.
  • Research, approach, and raise funds from corporate partners, trusts, donors, banks, and foundations in Kenya and facilitating co-financing opportunities for partner organizations.
  • Assisting in the preparation of project proposals for corporate and other funding agencies.
  • Developing annual work plans based on the approved strategy/Concept Notes and if needed, preparing income and expenditure budgets for each fundraising initiative.
  • Developing and coordinating web-based fundraising initiatives.
  • Ensuring all partners receive appropriate and timely reports and updates

Communications and Outreach

  • Raising awareness of Baraka Healthnet and its work at the County and National level.
  • Plan and design internal and external communication and outreach strategies and facilitate the development and production of information and knowledge-sharing materials.
  • Develop and produce communication and publicity materials to support fundraising efforts — including brochures, appeals, newsletters, annual reports, and other media, marketing, and fundraising messages.
  • Support the integration of advocacy, communication, and outreach strategies into project proposals, in line with the organization’s communication strategy.
  • Contribute to the identification of storylines and cases for publications and articles
  • Ensure timely and accurate responses to inquiries for public information resources.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in public health, Development Studies, Strategic Management, Project Management or related fields
  • Over 10 years’ relevant sector experience
  • Familiarity with regulatory framework and compliance standards in healthcare
  • High standards of integrity and professionalism
  • Strong communication skills
  • Able to travel up to project locations, meetings and events.
  • Advanced IT skills
