Reporting to the Executive Country Director, the Business and Relationship Development Manager will oversee Buckner Kenya’s business teams and units in order to maximize their potentialities, raise income, establish and maintain partners for operations, thereby achieving sustainability. This is a hands-on and results-oriented role.

  • Develop and implement strategies and new business ideas to achieve improved profit levels in business units (includes all income generating activities and social & business enterprises).
  • Plan, and coordinate fundraising activities as will be required by the executive country director.
  • Write and present suitable competitive BKE business proposals as will be required by the executive country director.
  • Prepare, preserve, and provide timely written or verbal feedback and reports as required.
  • Regularly monitor and evaluate BKE business units and improve them as will be approved.
  • Maintaining healthy client service and relationships through excellent customer care practices.
  • Network with appropriate government departments to legalize and enrich BKE programs.
  • Maintain full and orderly records of donors and manage regular donor communications related to business units.
  • Ensure that BKE meets all business statutory and legal requirements, procedures of legality, employment, work practice, licensing, occupational safety, and health, among others.
  • Generate relevant content that highlights local business units for publications, communication, and general marketing; ensuring these are developed and executed through creation of marketing materials, like flyers & brochures for the promotion of events and other fundraising pushes.
  • When needed, create solutions to trouble shoot the problems identified in BKE business units.
  • Responsible for the exposure of vision, mission, values, and objectives of business units to all visitors.
  • Evaluate BKE family coaching clients, businesses, and advice on sustainability.
  • Be ready to travel work and make appropriate presentations and reports as will be required.
  • 7-years work experience in a similar role in an NGO.
  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Sales and Marketing or a related course essential.
  • Tech Savvy with and advance understanding of digital marketing strategies and tools.

  • Communication Skills-Clear and persuasive communication (written and verbal). Cross-functional collaboration (e.g., with marketing, product, finance teams).
  • Market & Industry Knowledge-Awareness of industry trends and customer needs.
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills-Data-driven decision making. ROI analysis and performance metrics tracking.
  • Leadership & Teamwork-Inspiring and motivating teams (especially in leadership roles). Mentoring junior staff or sales teams.
