Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities at this level will include:
- Promoting agribusiness ventures among farmers, cooperatives, and producer groups;
- Supporting value addition and agro-processing initiatives;
- Assisting in the identification and development of agricultural value chains with commercial potential;
- Facilitating linkages between farmers and input suppliers, processors, and markets;
- Collecting and disseminating market intelligence and price information to stakeholders;
- Promoting contract farming and market-oriented production systems;
- Assisting in the preparation of agribusiness investment proposals and feasibility studies;
- Supporting youth and women agripreneurship programs;
- Guiding farmer organizations on business planning and financial management;
- Conducting training and advisory services on agribusiness and value chain management;
- Organizing field days, demonstrations, and exhibitions to promote agribusiness innovations;
- Strengthening farmers’ skills in business planning, marketing, and cooperative management;
- Collecting data on agricultural production, marketing, and value chain performance;
- Preparing periodic technical and progress reports;
- Maintaining updated records of agribusiness enterprises within the assigned area;
- Implementing county and national agribusiness strategies and policies;
- Participating in formulation of sub-county agribusiness work plans; and
- Contributing to monitoring and evaluation of agribusiness programs and projects.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
- Bachelor of Science degree in any of the following disciplines: Agriculture; Agronomy; Agribusiness Management and Enterprise Development; Agribusiness Management; Agribusiness; Agricultural Economics and Rural Development; Agricultural Extension and Education; Agricultural Marketing; Agricultural Resource Management; Agriculture and Extension; Agriculture and Home Economics; Agriculture and Human Ecology; Agriculture Economics; Crop Protection; Dry-land Resource Management; Dry-land Agriculture and Enterprise Development; Farm Management; Home Economics; Horticulture; Food Science and Technology or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
- Certificate of membership to a professional body from a recognized institution; and
- Certificate in computer application skills.
