JENGE Village is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting & Tax Associate to provide comprehensive bookkeeping, accounting, and tax compliance support services to our members and users. This full-time role is ideal for a methodical professional with 2-4 years of experience who can manage financial records, ensure accuracy, and support multiple clients with their accounting and tax needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date bookkeeping records using accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero, Sage).
- Record daily financial transactions including sales, purchases, receipts, and payments.
- Perform bank reconciliations and ensure all accounts balance correctly.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
- Prepare and submit accurate and timely management reports.
- Manage payroll processing including calculations, deductions, and statutory payments.
- Track and categorize business expenses for tax purposes.
- Maintain organized digital filing systems for financial documents and receipts.
- Prepare basic financial reports including profit & loss statements and balance sheets.
- Assist with tax preparation and ensure timely filing of tax returns.
- Calculate and prepare VAT/Sales Tax returns for submissions.
- Monitor filing deadlines and ensure compliance with tax obligations.
- Provide supporting documentation and clarification for tax filings.
- Assist with year-end closing procedures and financial statement preparation.
- Maintain fixed asset register and calculate depreciation.
- Support budget tracking and variance analysis.
- Respond to basic financial inquiries from members.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and tax regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or tax preparation.
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms).
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and double-entry bookkeeping.
- Knowledge of tax regulations and compliance requirements.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong numerical and analytical abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple client accounts simultaneously.
- Understanding of financial reporting and statement preparation.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Professional integrity and ability to handle confidential financial information.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working towards professional certification (CPA, ACCA, CPA-K, or equivalent).
- Experience with cloud-based accounting platforms.
- Knowledge of payroll systems and regulations.
- Familiarity with invoicing and expense management tools.
- Experience in a practice or multi-client environment.
- Basic understanding of audit processes.
- Knowledge of industry-specific accounting (nonprofit, retail, service businesses).
