Purpose of the Role
The Accountant – Kenya will oversee all financial operations within Buzz Kenya, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and efficiency in accounting processes. The role demands strong experience in managing finances within a marketing or experiential agency environment, particularly with proficiency in Odoo ERP and hands-on expertise in event and activation budgeting, from client brief to final reconciliation.
Key Responsibilities
Core Accounting & Reporting
- Manage daily accounting operations including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, payroll preparation, and bank reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly management accounts and financial statements in compliance with IFRS and Kenyan statutory requirements (VAT, PAYE, Withholding Tax, NHIF, NSSF, etc.).
- Oversee the timely and accurate submission of statutory returns.
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger to ensure completeness and accuracy of all financial transactions.
Odoo System Administration
- Serve as the primary administrator and super-user for the Odoo ERP system.
- Ensure seamless integrity and functionality of project management, purchasing, and finance modules.
- Maintain system integrity including chart of accounts, client/vendor data, and configurations aligned to experiential project workflows.
- Generate and customize reports from Odoo to support management decision-making.
Event Budgeting & Financial Control
- Develop detailed budgets for brand activations, events, and campaigns based on client briefs, accurately forecasting costs for venues, production, logistics, creative, and marketing.
- Collaborate closely with client service, operations, and creative teams to ensure financial feasibility and identify cost optimization opportunities.
- Monitor actual expenditures versus approved budgets, conduct variance analysis, and project final profitability.
- Oversee client billing processes, ensuring proper documentation and financial close-out for each project.
- Manage on-site event financial operations, including petty cash, floats, and reconciliations.
Treasury & Compliance
- Monitor cash flow and provide accurate cash flow forecasts for operations and project execution.
- Liaise with external auditors, tax authorities, and statutory bodies to ensure compliance.
- Safeguard company assets through adherence to internal financial controls and procedures.
Cross-Functional & Group Support
- Support finance operations and reporting across the Buzz regional structure when needed.
- Occasionally provide financial support to Live 54+ and other affiliated entities as directed.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives to strengthen internal controls and efficiency.
Education & Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K) or equivalent professional qualification.
- Minimum of three (3) years of progressive experience in finance within a marketing, media, or experiential agency environment.
- Proficiency in Odoo ERP and Microsoft Excel is mandatory.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
