We’re looking for a driven, detail-oriented Accountant Intern who’s ready to help us build and manage the financial backbone of a startup in its early, exciting phase.
You’ll be joining our founding team, working directly with the CEO to set up systems for:
- Managing daily transactions and expense tracking
- Handling client invoices and receipts
- Recording commissions and deferred payments
- Preparing monthly financial summaries
- Assisting in budgeting and revenue forecasting
This role is ideal for someone who wants hands-on startup experience and the chance to grow into a Finance & Operations Lead as Popup SMMA scales.
Responsibilities
- Create ad-hoc reports for various business needs
- Prepare tax documents
- Managing daily transactions and expense tracking
- Handling client invoices and receipts
- Recording commissions and deferred payments
- Preparing monthly financial summaries
- Assisting in budgeting and revenue forecasting
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Compensation
As a growing startup, we’re currently operating on a deferred payment model — meaning your work now earns you a seat at the table when revenue starts coming in.
Once client billing stabilizes (expected within 2–3 months), this role transitions to a paid position with performance bonuses and a clear path to full-time employment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (recent graduates welcome)
- Ability to interpret and analyze financial statements and periodicals
- Attention to detail and a love for clean, transparent numbers
- A self-starter with good communication and integrity
- Basic knowledge of bookkeeping, accounting tools (Excel, QuickBooks, or similar)
- Someone who believes in African entrepreneurship and digital transformation
