Job Purpose

  • The Legal Officers – Back Office will be responsible for managing warrants, proclamations, historical decrees, and legacy litigation matters within the Legal Department. The role entails diligent case follow-up, compliance with legal timelines, and systematic record management. The officers will contribute to the efficient handling of legacy cases and play a key role in reducing organizational exposure through timely reporting and accurate documentation.
  • Maintain and update the Warrants & Proclamations Register, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely updates.
  • Liaise with branches, auctioneers, external advocates, and court registries to obtain regular updates on enforcement actions and case status.
  • Track decree aging and monitor settlement progress for all legacy litigation matters.
  • Prepare and submit daily case status reports and weekly exposure dashboards highlighting case positions and financial implications.
  • Support the in-house litigation team through consolidation of pleadings, decrees, correspondence, and instructions to facilitate timely legal action.
  • Manage and retrieve documents for ongoing and archived cases.
  • Ensure adherence to internal procedures and promptly escalate matters requiring management attention.
  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized university.
  • Postgraduate Diploma from the Kenya School of Law.
  • Current Practicing Certificate.
  • At least 3 years post-admission experience in back office/civil litigation.
  • Insurance experience is an added advantage.
