Requirements for Appointment
- Be a Kenyan citizen.
- Degree from a University recognized in Kenya in Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B., & ChB.).
- Have completed twelve months internship period.
- Registered as a Medical Practitioner by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council.
- Must have a valid practicing license.
- Demonstrable skills and experience in various clinical areas with at least three years’ experience.
- Be of acceptable moral and professional standing.
- Certificate in computer application skills will be an added advantage.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Medical Officer shall be responsible to the employer and the supervisor for the following:
- Attending to patients in clerking, diagnosis, management, and follow-up.
- Performing medical and surgical procedures.
- Responding to emergencies and disasters.
- Providing health education.
- Maintaining medical records, health information, and data.
- Participating in management of medicines, medical instruments, and equipment.
- Counselling patients and relatives on diagnosis and bereavement.
- Teaching and coaching medical students, medical officer interns, nursing students and interns, clinical officer students and interns.
- Any other duty that may be assigned by the supervisor.
