About the Role
As the Director of Research & Innovation (R&I), you will lead MYCP’s efforts to generate evidence, insights, and innovative solutions on migration & youth affairs. You will direct a team mixed with specialists and supporting officers producing high-quality research, knowledge products, and innovative approaches to support our advocacy and programming. You will report to the MYCP Coordinator & International Council. This is a volunteer position, with expectation of 8-12 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Setting the strategic vision for MYCP’s research and innovation work
- Overseeing and ensuring quality control for research and knowledge outputs and policy proposals
- Ensuring research is informed and grounded in the lived experience of youth on the move, inclusive and impactful
- Collaborate with other Directors and the Secretariat to ensure evidence-based advocacy and programming, and targeted outreach
- Represent MYCP and the R&I Unit to key external stakeholders, forums and policy dialogues, and building R&I relationships with partners
Person Specification
- Aged between 18 and 30 years old
- Excellent experience in academic research and policy innovation on migration issues (a postgraduate qualification, or equivalent, in migration studies or similar field is strongly preferred)
- An in-depth understanding of youth and migration issues, preferably from lived-experience
- Experience leading and coordinating a diverse, volunteer-driven team
- Excellent writing, analysis and communication skills and command of English (fluency in one or more other UN languages is desirable)
- Collaborative mindset and commitment to youth empowerment and MYCP’s values
- Organised, reliable, and proactive problem-solver
