Our client is looking to hire a Commercial Manager Global Sourcing Services (GSS) Africa, who operates in the commercial team of GSS.

The commercial team is part of the Global Sourcing Service (GSS) Africa department and is responsible for commercial servicing of clients wishing to source directly in Africa. This includes daily contact with clients, sourcing based on client wishes and requirements, improving and increasing direct volume deals, consequent order management, preparation of commercial documentation, and follow-up on claims and issues.

The Commercial Manager GSS Africa role is split between guiding and steering the team on one hand, and actively managing several key accounts on the other.

He/she is to closely align activities of the commercial team with other functions within the GSS department. These are the GSS Operations and GSS Development departments. This alignment takes place with the respective team leads of these teams.

Finally, the Commercial Manager GSS Africa is responsible for the timely and complete processing and reporting on turnover, commission for the entire client portfolio. He/she is to ensure commissions are charged via the RFH financial systems towards growers and clients.

  • Interventions on sourced assortments (Include new growers to portfolio),
  • Timeliness/completeness /conciseness of reporting.
  • Establish an overview of GSS clients’ commercial needs. Gather input from individual client account plans. Establish an overview of the growers ’ portfolios from which these clients source products, and establish a commercial analysis and consequent planning on high-level activities.
  • Ensure team members establish individual client account plans, and use these account plans for overall commercial planning and activities for team members.
  • From the analysis and planning, set commercial development and follow-up per client on midterm period (3 months). Translate this to week planning for staff members on the team to follow-up. Both on time management and content of work.
  • Ensure monitoring of commercial progress takes place through reporting, capture issues and escalations and ensure they are handled in first line, by yourself (Commercial Manager GSS Africa) or escalated to higher management.
  • Ensure turnover and commission data is captured and stored in the database/datafile, from this derive periodic reports on weekly, monthly, quarterly basis.
  • Ensure capacity planning is in order for the team, and manage coverage during leave of team members.
  • Steer weekly and daily operations, reporting and ad-hoc issues and problems. Manage the commercial team activities and achieving excellent performance.
  • Ensure the commercial team manages day-to-day execution of commercial handling of orders.
  • Ensure the commercial team pro-actively identifies and develops new /additional sales.
  • Ensure the commercial team pro-actively identifies and develops additional service propositions for clients.
  • Ensure tooling and processes for team members are in place and further developed where needed. This includes: – Tools: Templates for daily/weekly offerings, order confirmations, claim forms, productions and grower datafiles, Account plan formats.
  • Processes/procedures: order management handling, claim and rejection procedure, turnover and commission registration, documentation handling.
  • Provide performance reviews towards the Commercial Manager – Agree with team members on individual KPI’s and result expectation and discuss with Commercial manager for final confirmation.
  • Ensure and encourage team commitment towards their job, teamwork and collaboration.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration (preferably marketing option), Supply Chain Management, Agriculture, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in global sourcing or commercial management in the flower industry.
  • Leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong analytical and strategic planning abilities.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Expertise in commercial operations, reporting, and process improvement.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills – should be able to handle escalation.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and financial systems related to turnover and commissions.
  • Proven track record in managing stakeholder relationships, contract negotiations, and commercial planning at an international level.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in data-driven decision-making, financial reporting, and market analysis.
