Position Summary
We’re seeking highly skilled and experienced Data Engineers based in Nairobi, Kenya, to join our talent network for future client projects. As part of our staff augmentation model, you’ll have the opportunity to work remotely with different US clients, while being supported by our dedicated team. This role is critical in designing, building, and optimizing data infrastructure and pipelines to ensure reliable, scalable, and high-performance data delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and Architecture: Architect, build, and maintain robust, scalable, and efficient ETL/ELT data pipelines (batch and real-time) using tools like Apache Spark, Flink, Kafka, and cloud-native services (e.g., AWS Glue, Azure Data Factory, GCP Dataflow).
- Data Warehouse Management: Manage and optimize cloud-based data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, BigQuery) for performance, cost efficiency, and governance.
- Infrastructure: Implement and maintain data lake solutions and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Quality and Governance: Develop and enforce data quality checks, governance policies, and security best practices across all data platforms.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Data Scientists, Analysts, and Software Engineers to understand their data needs and provide reliable data solutions.
- Automation: Implement monitoring, alerting, and automation for all data platform components.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 3+ years of professional experience in data engineering.
- Programming: Expert proficiency in Python or Scala and advanced SQL.
- Cloud: Deep experience with one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP). Certifications are a plus.
- Big Data Technologies: Extensive hands-on experience with Spark and distributed systems.
- Databases: Strong understanding of relational databases, NoSQL databases, and data warehousing concepts.
- DevOps: Experience with version control (Git), CI/CD practices, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
