We currently have eight trustees on our board and three established subcommittees. One is tasked with overseeing our People and Culture function, one looks after our Finance, Risk, and Audit area and the other is the Safeguarding Reporting Committee. All three are populated with trustees who are experts in their respective fields.
We have set up a new sub-committee, the programme sub-committee, to address our core mission: supporting coastal communities in rebuilding fisheries and restoring ocean life.
Essential Experience and Skills
- Experience in the small-scale fisheries, marine conservation or rural development sectors, working with governments, institutional or frontline partners, conservation and development sectors.
- Proven experience serving on boards, committees, or governance structures.
- Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to challenge constructively and support executive leadership
- Demonstrated ability to support inclusive decision-making, power-sharing, and respectful, equitable partnerships
- Financial literacy, including the ability to interpret charity financial reports, risk registers, and annual statements
- Comfortable representing Blue Ventures externally and acting as an ambassador when appropriate
- Curious, proactive, and enthusiastic about contributing to Blue Ventures’ evolving strategy and mission
