Qualification
Education, Skills and Experience
- PhD in counselling or its equivalent qualification from an accredited institution
- Post-graduate Diploma in Counselling from an accredited institution.
- 3 years’ experience at Grade 11 within MKU or at a similar position in a recognized academic institution.
- Be registered with and be active members of professional associations in his/her profession where applicable.
OR
- Master’s degree in Counselling.
- Post-graduate Diploma in Counselling from an accredited institution.
- 5 years’ experience in Grade 11 within MKU or at a similar position in a recognized academic institution.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Promote the student’s welfare in terms of psychological, emotional, social and mental well-being.
- Provide career guidance and placement services in collaboration with academic departments.
- Organize and coordinate public lecturers for students and staff.
- Organize and implement seminars and workshops for the enhancement of personal growth and development for students and staff.
- Implement guidance and counselling policies within the university.
- Liaise with other counselling organizations to enhance service provision.
- Provide information for planning and budgeting for guidance and counselling programmes.
- Offer extension services in collaboration with the social welfare departments.
- Mediate between the external community and the university in order to foster healthy relationships.
- Liaise with the Dean of Students and any other relevant offices for the well-being of the institution.
- Performing any other duty that may be assigned to you from time to time by the dean of students.
