Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities at this level will include:
- Assisting in the collection of agricultural field data for land-use mapping and farm planning;
- Assisting in the preparation of base maps, boundary demarcation, and field sketches;
- Conducting simple field surveys using GPS and total station equipment, and providing accurate spatial data to support the design, planning, and construction of agricultural and water irrigation projects;
- Maintaining precise survey records and collaborating with relevant stakeholders to facilitate effective implementation;
- Maintaining survey instruments and equipment inventory;
- Supporting GIS data entry and map digitization activities; and
- Performing any other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.
- Additional responsibilities include conducting land and topographic surveys, preparing maps and digital models, ensuring compliance with surveying standards, verifying construction layouts, and collaborating with engineers, project teams, and stakeholders to facilitate effective project implementation.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
- Diploma in Agricultural Engineering, Geomatics, Surveying, Agricultural Land Management, or equivalent qualification;
- Certificate in computer applications; and
- Demonstrated competence in field data collection and basic map preparation.
