Overview

Doping Control Officers (DCOs) play a critical role in maintaining integrity in sports by overseeing the collection of urine and/or blood samples from athletes during both in-competition and out-of-competition testing. These officers ensure that all testing procedures adhere to WADA and ADAK regulations.

The Doping Control Officer will be responsible for:

  • Conducting sample collection missions according to ADAK and WADA standards and guidelines.
  • Ensuring the athlete’s rights are protected during the testing process.
  • Managing chain of custody for all collected samples to guarantee their integrity and validity.
  • Completing and submitting accurate Doping Control Forms and other related documentation.
  • Coordinating with Chaperones and Blood Collection Officers during testing missions.
  • Ensuring testing kits, materials, and equipment are properly handled and stored.
  • Educating athletes and support staff about testing protocols and compliance.
  • Reporting any irregularities, refusals, or violations during sample collection.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
  • Participating in refresher courses, re-certification, and ongoing professional development in doping control procedures.

Applicants must ensure that they fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010, and obtain valid clearance certificates from the following organizations:

  • Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) – Tax Compliance Certificate
  • Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) – Loan Repayment Compliance Certificate
  • Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) – Certificate of Good Conduct
  • Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) – Integrity Clearance Certificate
  • Credit Reference Bureau (CRB) – Credit Status Report
