About This Role
We're looking for a Backend Engineer who cares deeply about data integrity, security, and API craft. You'll own Pocket Watch's core services linking securely to Plaid, storing transactions in Postgres, and powering the AI assistant that guides users toward financial well-being.
What You’ll Do
- Build and maintain FastAPI services and REST endpoints
- Design schemas and migrations for Postgres (SQLAlchemy / Alembic)
- Integrate securely with Plaid APIs for account and transaction data
- Implement data sync pipelines, error handling, and logging
- Collaborate with mobile and AI teams to define API contracts
- Add monitoring, testing, and Docker-based CI/CD pipelines
What We’re Looking For
- 4+ years backend experience in Python (FastAPI, async IO)
- Strong SQL and Postgres knowledge (indexing, optimization)
- Experience building secure integrations with Plaid or other financial data APIs
- Understanding of OAuth 2.0, webhooks, and token security
- A bias for clarity clean code, docs, and data flows that others can trust
