We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Program Director to provide overall leadership and direction for our key programs. This role is pivotal in driving the organization’s mission through exceptional program delivery, strategic partnerships, and effective team management. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned leader with a proven track record in program management, business development, stakeholder management, and a deep, hands-on commitment to working with Persons with Disabilities.

Strategic Program Leadership & Operational Excellence

  • Oversee end-to-end program execution, ensuring seamless delivery from inception to completion, while maintaining the highest standards of quality, impact, and compliance.
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement by implementing robust Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) frameworks to measure efficacy, drive data-driven decision-making, and demonstrate tangible outcomes.
  • Spearhead the strategic design and scaling of innovative program models to enhance reach, sustainability, and alignment with organizational mission and strategic objectives.

Business Development & Partnership Expansion

  • Pioneer and execute a forward-thinking business development strategy to identify, cultivate, and secure diverse funding streams, including major grants, corporate partnerships, and fee-for-service contracts.
  • Architect and nurture strategic alliances with key stakeholders, including government bodies, institutional donors, corporate partners, and community-led organizations, to amplify impact and drive systemic change.
  • Serve as the primary organizational ambassador, elevating our profile and thought leadership at industry events, policy forums, and public engagements.

Inspirational People Leadership & High-Performing Teams

  • Provide motivational leadership and direct line management to the program team, fostering a collaborative, accountable, and results-oriented culture.
  • Actively forge a cohesive and synergistic (“jelled”) team dynamic, by breaking down silos, facilitating clear communication channels, and championing cross-functional collaboration.
  • Invest in talent development by mentoring high-potential staff, managing performance through structured feedback, and facilitating targeted professional growth opportunities.

Financial Stewardship & Administrative Governance

  • Exercise full financial accountability for the program portfolio, developing and managing multi-year budgets, forecasts, and resource allocation to ensure fiscal health and operational sustainability.
  • Guarantee rigorous financial oversight and reporting, ensuring all activities comply with donor regulations, organizational policies, and audit requirements.
  • Optimize administrative systems and operational processes to enhance efficiency, mitigate risk, and provide a solid foundation for program delivery.

Community-Centered Advocacy & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Maintain a direct, authentic connection with the community, ensuring program strategies are co-designed and responsive to the lived experiences and voiced needs of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).
  • Act as a compelling advocate and trusted liaison between the organization, beneficiaries, and the broader community, ensuring our work remains grounded and relevant.

Proven Leadership & Program Scale:

  • A minimum of 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in international program development, with at least 5 years in a Director-level role (e.g., Program Director, Project Director, Portfolio Director) with full financial and strategic accountability.
  • Demonstrated experience managing large-scale, complex programs with annual budgets of $2M+ and multi-disciplinary teams.

Expertise in Disability Inclusion:

  • Mandatory, deep-seated professional experience working with and for Persons with Disabilities. Must be able to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of disability inclusion frameworks, accessibility standards, and the social model of disability.
  • Direct experience in program design, implementation, and/or advocacy specifically tailored to the disability community.

Strategic Business Development & Financial Acumen:

  • A verifiable track record of securing significant funding ($500k+ per opportunity) through innovative approaches, including winning government grants, corporate partnerships, or multi-year foundation funding.
  • Expertise in developing and managing multi-million dollar budgets, with proven ability to optimize resource allocation, control costs, and ensure financial compliance and reporting for diverse donors.

People & Stakeholder Leadership:

  • A minimum of 5 years of direct people management responsibility, with experience leading teams of 20+ individuals. Must demonstrate a history of mentoring high-potential staff, improving team performance, and managing underperformance effectively.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with experience acting as the primary organizational representative to senior-level partners, including government officials, major donors, and community leaders.

Preferred Qualifications (Ideal Candidate)

Advanced Education: A master’s degree in business administration (MBA), Public Administration (MPA), Social Work, International Development, or a related field is highly preferred.

Sector & Technical Expertise:

  • Prior experience in the [Non-Profit, International Development, Social Enterprise, or specific relevant sector] is strongly preferred.
  • Professional certification in Project/Program Management (e.g., PMP, PgMP) or a related field.

Demonstrated Impact & Innovation:

  • Proven ability to use data and M&E (Monitoring & Evaluation) systems to drive programmatic decisions, demonstrate impact to stakeholders, and secure repeat funding.
  • Evidence of having designed and launched a new program, service, or partnership model that led to measurable growth or improved outcomes.
