Position Summary
We’re hiring an Assistive Technology (AT) Coordinator to lead end-to-end AT integration—specification, procurement, training, deployment, and lifecycle management—so learners and job seekers with disabilities can access education, employment, and entrepreneurship. You’ll operationalize KS 2952 and global standards (EN 301 549, WCAG) across training centers and employer sites.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver the AT roadmap across skilling, entrepreneurship, and ecosystem workstreams.
- Specify, procure, deploy, and maintain devices (screen readers, Braille displays, AAC, adaptive input, hearing & mobility aids).
- Establish fit-to-need assessment, asset tracking, warranties, servicing, and replacements.
- Build capacity: design & deliver training (incl. KS 2952) for participants, trainers, employers, and OPDs; mentor youth AT operators/peer supporters.
- Assure quality: run accessibility audits, track remediation, and measure device uptime and user outcomes (gender/disability disaggregated).
- Coordinate partners & vendors (TVETs, OPDs, employers); manage SLAs and budgets; contribute to accessible curricula and platforms.
- Advance sustainability: inform AT financing and inclusion in public procurement/social protection pathways.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s in Biomedical Engineering, ICT, Special Needs Education, Occupational Therapy, Public Health, or related (Masters is a plus).
- 7+ years leading Assistive Technology/digital accessibility or disability-inclusion initiatives.
Key Competencies:
- Hands-on expertise with major AT categories (e.g., JAWS/NVDA, Braille displays, AAC, mobility/hearing solutions) and vendor/specification management.
- Experience working with OPDs, employers, and government stakeholders (e.g., NCPWD, KEBS, TVETA); strong stakeholder facilitation.
- Working knowledge of Digital accessibility standards such as KS 2952 and international standards (EN 301 549, WCAG; WHO guidance).
- Nice-to-have: ToT/curriculum design, standardization experience, multi-county program delivery.
