Key Responsibilities
Community Mobilization & Engagement
- Identify, recruit, and mobilize vulnerable youth (15–24 years) to participate in the Youth Ready program.
- Conduct sensitization meetings with parents, caregivers, faith leaders, and local authorities to create awareness and buy-in.
- Support the formation and strengthening of Youth Ready groups.
- Facilitate inclusive participation, ensuring gender balance and inclusion of marginalized groups (e.g., refugees, youth with disabilities).
Capacity Building & Mentorship
- Identify and coordinate local mentors, coaches, and role models to support participating youth.
- Support peer-to-peer learning, exchange visits, and experience sharing among youth groups.
- Encourage youth to take leadership in community activities and advocacy initiatives.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting
- Quality and timely reporting of project interventions and accurate data on youth participation, group activities, and project outcomes.
- Document success stories, lessons learned, and case studies.
- Provide regular reports to the Coordinator on progress, challenges, and opportunities.
- Ensure accountability by sharing project progress and feedback with the community.
- Participate in weekly in local office and bimonthly meetings with support office and assessments
Networking & Partnerships
- Strengthen partnerships with community-based organizations, schools, churches, Private sector, other NGOs, youth led organizations and vocational training providers.
- Facilitate youth access to government youth funds, grants, and opportunities.
- Represent the project in community forums, stakeholder meetings, and local and National government engagements.
Qualifications Required:
- Minimum Diploma in Community Development, Social Work, Education, Youth Development, or related field.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Education, or Development Studies is an added advantage.
- At least 2 years’ experience in youth programming, community mobilization, or livelihoods projects.
- Experience working with vulnerable populations (youths in crime and drugs , out-of-school youth, young mothers, persons with disabilities).
- Prior experience in facilitating life skills/ Youth Ready / Positive Youth Development models, savings groups, Empowered world view or Linkages to vocational training programs, Employment and entrepreneurship is desirable.
- Strong facilitation and group mobilization skills.
- Knowledge of Positive Youth Development (PYD) and/or the Youth Ready model is an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and networking skills.
- Ability to collect, manage, and report data accurately.
- Problem-solving, adaptability, and cultural sensitivity.
- Excellent reporting and documenting skills including writing of human transformational stories is an asset.
- Passionate about youth empowerment and community transformation.
- Role model in integrity, accountability, and servant leadership.
- Willingness to travel frequently within the community.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
