Invicta Child Foundation’s Invicta Libraries initiative aims to establish a network of accessible libraries, including fixed school libraries, community branch libraries, and mobile libraries. The project provides free tutoring through trained volunteers and hired tutors. It supports children aged 5-18, with a special focus on low-income and underserved communities. The initiative addresses the lack of access to reading materials, safe study spaces, and tutor support, which affects literacy, school retention, and long-term economic opportunities.
Role Description
This is a volunteer hybrid role located in Nairobi County, Kenya, with some work-from-home flexibility. As a member, you will assist in coordinating library activities, support learners with guided study sessions, provide homework help, facilitate reading clubs, and offer remedial support. You will work with children aged 5-18, focusing on improving literacy and numeracy levels in underserved communities.
Qualifications
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in tutoring, mentoring, or teaching is preferred
- Ability to work with children aged 5-18 and support their educational needs
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Commitment to improving educational opportunities for low-income and underserved communities
- Prior experience in volunteering or community service is a plus
