Our client is a leader in supply and installation of window blinds and films in East Africa is seeking to hire a Human Resource Officer who will be responsible for supporting the implementation of HR policies, procedures, and programs across the organization. This role will cover recruitment, employee relations, performance management, training, and ensuring compliance with labor laws. The ideal candidate should be proactive, people-oriented, and able to balance employee needs with organizational objectives.

  • Preparing job descriptions, advertising vacant positions, and managing the employment process i.e. Recruit, screen, interview, hire and dismiss employees as necessary, following all HR processes and procedures. Identify and recruit qualified candidates for different roles across departments.
  • Direct all hiring and training procedures for new employees.
  • Draft employee contracts before onboarding.
  • Onboard new candidates and introduce them to others in the organization.
  • Coordinate and direct work activities for in-charge and employees. Ensuring that all employees are organized and satisfied in their work environment.
  • Oversee and monitor employee performance.
  • Organize periodic performance appraisals. Regularly meet with employees for progress reviews and assessments, discussing any problems or issues affecting their performance.
  • Administer bonuses and performance-related incentives.
  • Promote a positive and open work environment where employees feel comfortable speaking up about issues.
  • Develop and organize training and development programs. Identify where employees can improve with the help of department heads and create training strategies.
  • Manage employee safety and wellness within the organization.
  • Provide counselling support to employees who require help.
  • Understand and adhere to all pertinent labor laws and regulations.
  • Advise management on employment policies and procedures.
  • Lead the development and implementation of human resource policies.
  • Provide counseling on policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records, files and reports, including responsibility for maintaining personnel records.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of proven experience in a Human Resource role.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledgeable with employment legislation and possess strategic and commercial insight to the labor process.
  • Ability to negotiate with diplomacy.
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Good time-management skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Remarkable conflict management and decision-making skills to ensure employee compliance.
