The Position
The Pharmaceutical Technologist manages the pharmacy of Baraka HealthNet – Bomani Dispensary Malde, in liaison with the Project Coordinator, reports, and ensures all pharmaceutical activities are carried out efficiently and in line with best pharmacy practice. The pharmacist operates from Bomani Dispensary, Kikambala.
Core Tasks and Responsibilities
- Organizing the pharmacy in an efficient manner to make the identification of products easier and faster.
- Maintaining full control over delivering, stocking, and labelling medicine and other non-pharmaceutical products.
- Pay attention to customer’s needs, interpret their concerns and offer information and advice that is appropriate.
- Prepare medicines when appropriate using correct dosages and material for each individual patient as prescribed by Doctors/Clinicians.
- Keep accurate records of patient history and of all activities regarding to their medication.
- Monitoring customers’ drug therapies, advising interventions, and informing customers of any potential side effects.
- Instructing customers on how and when to take prescribed medications.
- Conducting health and wellness screenings.
- Ensuring a safe and clean working environment.
- Completing operational requirements of the pharmacy, including verifying order entries, maintaining records of controlled substances, and removing expired and/or damaged drugs from the pharmacy’s inventory.
- Adhering to applicable legal rules, regulations, and procedures governing pharmaceutical practice.
- Participates in the planning, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of pharmacy training courses.
- Prepares and delivers instruction and supervises the activities of course participants during instructional time.
- Evaluates learner performance, provides feedback, and develops learner remediation plans.
- Performing other administrative tasks when needed.
Pharmaceutical Technologist Requirements
- Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy or Pharmacology.
- Proven experience as a pharmacist with recommendations.
- Valid license to practice as a pharmacist.
- Detailed understanding and knowledge of dosage requirements and administration, chemical compounds, and pharmaceutical brands.
- Working knowledge of pharmacy software applications, used by pharmacies.
- Great organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
