Orthopedic Trauma Technologist
- To undertake plastering procedures and techniques in accordance with agreed policies and guidelines while maintaining the hospital quality standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Document the condition and progress of patients and report to the relevant medical staff any areas of concern.
- Undertake plastering procedures and techniques in accordance with agreed policies and guidelines
- Assist the departmental staff in the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of all policies and procedures
- Comply with all Hospital policies with particular regard to the policies and procedures carried out in maintaining staff and patient safety
- Report all accidents to the Rehab in-Charge and complete an incident form
- Ensure that the rights, dignity and confidentiality of the patient are protected at all times
- Be responsible for maintaining, cleaning and restocking of the plaster room materials
- To locate appropriate equipment used by the plaster room staff, ensuring the equipment is maintained, Health and Safety checked
- To undertake designated administration duties to enable the continuity of patient care
- Ensure compliance with all the requirements of the quality management system (Safecare)
- To liaise with and communicate with all members of the multi-disciplinary team as necessary in order to ensure the smooth running of the service
- Assist in the application and removal of all types of casts / splints and other areas of patient rehabilitation as requested both in the in-patient and out- patient
- To undertake any other duties that may be required, in addition to those attached relating to your specific area
- Be responsible to provide plaster care education and information to patients and their careers, so that they have an understanding of the appropriate care that is needed as complications may occur.
- Be legally responsible and accountable, caring, compassionate and professional at all times
- Manage clinical risk, adhere to standards of patient care, treatment protocols and documentation standards for the facility
- Perform all key functions with regard to plaster technology and additional, other related functions as directed and also adhering to standards of performance as required by the institution
- Travel to remote mobile clinics as directed to coordinate and enhance functions between our facility and partner clinics for betterment of patient care
- In-charge of all quality activities in relation to this position as per the Hospital Standards.
