Job Description
Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) is a State Corporation established through the Science and Technology (Amendment) Act of 1979, which has since been amended to Science, Technology and Innovation Act 2013. The 1979 Act established KEMRI as a National body responsible for carrying out health research in Kenya.
Postdoctoral Research Associate – Nairobi
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting manuscript writing, editing, and submission for peer-reviewed journals.
- Assisting with grant proposal development, including drafting concept notes, budgets, and justifications.
- Conducting literature reviews, citation management, and synthesis of evidence.
- Coordinating and maintaining research and regulatory documentation, including IRB submissions, amendments, and continuing reviews.
- Managing study-related databases and assisting with data cleaning and analysis (qualitative and/or quantitative).
- Supporting the preparation of progress reports, presentations, and dissemination materials for funders and collaborators.
- Providing mentorship and technical assistance to graduate students and junior researchers involved in Kar Geno projects.
Vacancy Requirements:
- PhD in Public Health, Epidemiology, Global Health, Behavioral Sciences, or related field. Mandatory
- Demonstrated experience in scientific writing, qualitative/quantitative analysis, and grant development. Mandatory
- Familiarity with ethical and regulatory frameworks governing research in Kenya (e.g., NACOSTI, KEMRI SERU). Mandatory
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Mandatory
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, reference management (e.g., Mendeley, Zotero), and data analysis software (e.g., STATA, NVivo, R) is an added advantage. Added Advantage
