As a detail-oriented Swahili speaker, you will proofread and edit localised designs to ensure linguistic accuracy, cultural appropriateness, and visual consistency. You will act as the final quality gate before designs are approved for release, ensuring they are polished, professional, and locally relevant. This includes verifying that the overall design is culturally appropriate, visually high quality, and well-suited to the expectations and preferences of the target audience.

This position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work autonomously, and a passion for both high-quality design and excellent language standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and refine translated copy to ensure natural, fluent language that accurately conveys the intended meaning.
  • Adapt localised designs to align with source material, ensuring proper text fit, typographic accuracy, and culturally appropriate visual elements.
  • Provide clear, constructive feedback on language and design adjustments
  • Conduct final quality checks to approve designs as ready for client use, ensuring they meet all linguistic and design standards.
  • Execute edits and revisions efficiently while maintaining a high standard of quality.
  • Work independently while following project guidelines, deadlines, and task requirements.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Linguistic Expertise: Nativ-level proficiency in the target language with experience in translation, localisation, or linguistic quality review.
  • Design Skills: Strong background in graphic design, with a keen eye for layout, typography, and visual consistency.
  • Cultural Insight: Deep understanding of regional nuances to ensure design and language are culturally appropriate.
  • Quality Orientation: Ability to identify and resolve subtle linguistic, visual, or layout inconsistencies.
  • Technical Proficiency: Comfortable working with cloud-based design tools and editing platforms.
  • Client-Centred Mindset: Committed to delivering high-quality work and maintaining professional, long-term working relationships.
  • Time Management: Ability to prioritise tasks and work efficiently to meet deadlines.
  • Language Mastery: Fluency in English and strong command of Swahili, with familiarity in linguistic quality evaluation processes.

Education & Experience

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Linguistics, Translation, or a related field.
  • Prior experience in quality assurance for design or language assets is a strong plus.
