Environment Assistant

Job Specification

  • This will be the entry and training grade for Diploma holders in this cadre. An officer in this level will work under the supervision of a senior officer.

Duties and responsibilities for an officer at this level will entail assisting in:

  • Operating and check lubrication oil for gas blowers, pump, and other effluent treatment plant equipment.
  • Collecting samples and carry out simple quality tests for routine analysis;
  • Keep records of Effluent treatment Plant;
  • Conduct daily inspection of the Effluent Treatment Plant and effluent chemical treatment.
  • Trimming the ponds at the plant;
  • Conducting general cleanliness of the plant;
  • Removing floating foreign matters in the lagoon and ponds; and
  • Incinerating hazardous waste.
  • Carry out basic machinery diagnosis and troubleshooting

Person Specification

For appointment to this grade a candidate must have:

  • Diploma in any of the following fields: – Environmental Studies, Natural Resource Management, Sewerage Technician or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  • Proficiency in computer applications; and
  • Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter six (6) of the Constitution.

Additional Requirements:

Successful candidates will be required to submit the following documents: –

  • Certificate of good conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.
  • Clearance certificate from Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).
  • Tax compliance certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
  • Clearance certificate from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)
  • Report from an approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)
