About the Role
Mara Engai is seeking a detail-driven and highly organised Accountant / Finance Manager to oversee all financial operations and support the strategic growth of the lodge. This role ensures accuracy, compliance, and financial insight across the business while maintaining strong internal controls and supporting sustainable, responsible operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all day-to-day accounting transactions with accuracy and efficiency.
- Prepare timely financial statements, budget forecasts, and scheduled reports.
- Handle monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.
- Reconcile accounts payable and receivable and ensure timely bank payments.
- Compute taxes and prepare tax returns in line with local regulations.
- Maintain balance sheets and P&L statements, reporting on financial health and liquidity.
- Review financial documents, reinforce data confidentiality, and manage database backups.
- Ensure compliance with financial policies, regulations, and accounting standards.
- Support cost accounting, management accounting, and financial planning processes.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to strengthen internal controls.
- Participate in financial standards setting, risk management, and forecasting.
- Collaborate with external auditors and provide all required year-end information.

Requirements & Skills
- Minimum 5 years’ accounting experience, preferably within the hospitality industry.
- Strong knowledge of accounting regulations, standards, and procedures.
- Proven hands-on experience with Opera, MC, and SUN accounting systems.
- Exceptional numerical aptitude and strong quantitative abilities.
- Advanced MS Excel skills and proficiency across general ledger functions.
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- BSc in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional certification such as ACCA or CPA is required.
