Position Overview
This part-time, mid–senior level HR practitioner will stabilise and strengthen core HR foundations across the organisation. You will oversee strategic HR operations, ensure compliance with Kenyan labour law, support leadership with people-related decisions, and help preserve our culture as we grow. The role is ideal for someone who is highly experienced, autonomous, and able to deliver impact efficiently within focused hours.

Key Responsibilities
Talent & Hiring
- Oversee hiring for critical roles: role scoping, sourcing strategy, screening, and advising hiring managers.
- Streamline and professionalise the recruitment process and tools.
Employee Experience & Culture
- Safeguard and strengthen Farm to Feed’s culture through intentional rituals, communication practices, and light-touch engagement initiatives.
- Conduct periodic check-ins and pulse assessments to identify emerging people issues early.
Performance & Development
- Guide managers on performance standards, documentation, improvement plans, and development pathways.
- Set up lightweight but effective performance cycles and templates.
HR Systems, Policies & Compliance
- Review, update, and embed HR policies in alignment with Kenyan labour law.
- Ensure compliant and organised HR records, contracts, and onboarding documentation.
- Advise leadership on employment risk, policy interpretation and compliance obligations.
Payroll & People Operations
- Work with Finance to verify payroll inputs, leave management, benefits, and statutory submissions.
- Support operational HR tasks that require senior oversight, without taking on day-to-day admin.
Employee Relations & Leadership Support
- Serve as a neutral and trusted advisor in conflict resolution, workplace concerns, and coaching for managers.
- Provide the CEO with senior-level guidance on sensitive or strategic people matters.
Qualifications & Skills
- 5+ years of HR experience, with demonstrated senior judgement in dynamic environments (startup, social enterprise, or growth-stage company).
- Deep knowledge of Kenyan labour law and HR best practice.
- Strong communication, confidentiality, and organisational judgement.
- Comfortable working independently with limited supervision.
- Experience setting up HR systems, processes, and performance frameworks.
- Passion for purpose-driven work and environments that balance creativity with operational rigour.
